Let your agent set it up

Already working with an AI coding agent? Paste this into your conversation:

Help me install and start using mdt, the Markdown command-line tool. Read https://emmflow.com/cli-agent-guide.md first, then walk me through it step by step.

The CLI installation guide helps your agent choose the tool and build, verify the download, and get you started.

Install and get started

Choose your operating system and processor. On macOS, About This Mac shows Apple silicon or Intel. On Linux, uname -m reports aarch64 for ARM64 or x86_64.

Extract the archive and install the selected tool in your own ~/.local/bin. This does not need sudo. Each archive includes a README with installation instructions.

mkdir -p "$HOME/.local/bin"
install -m 755 ./mdt "$HOME/.local/bin/mdt"

Add ~/.local/bin to both your current PATH and the startup configuration for the shell you use, without adding duplicate entries. The shell setup instructions cover Bash, Zsh and Fish separately.

In a new terminal, confirm the command resolves to your installation, check its version, and read the help:

command -v mdt
mdt --version
mdt --help

mdt shows changes relative to a retained revision, helping agents avoid unnecessary rereading, token use, and distraction.

We created it because agents we asked reported that rereading large files was their biggest frustration.
